Critical
Sociology publishes articles from all
perspectives within a broad definition of critical or radical social science.
The journal grew out of tumultuous times of the late 1960s and was a by-product
of the "Sociology Liberation Movement," which erupted at the 1969 meetings of
the American Sociological Association. It has published work mainly within the
broadest boundaries of the Marxist tradition, although it has also been home to
post-modern, feminist, and other radical arguments. It will continue in this
fashion and preserves its position as one of a select few "alternative" social
science journals with widespread recognition and respect in the world of
"mainstream" social science.
